Beresford wins double gold!

23/08/11

We only entered two wines in this year's NZ International Wine Show, and we picked up Gold for both.

The 2008 Beresford McLaren Vale Shiraz (on the back of its Silver win at the 2011 International Wine Challenge) and the 2009 Beresford McLaren Vale Cabernet Sauvignon (this was its first competition entry) were the winning wines.

The Shiraz is a generous wine with vibrant dark berry characters and overtones of mocha and spice. 12-14 months in new, one and two year old French and American oak has produced subtle vanillin oak characters, which add further complexity. Perfect with steak and other chargrilled red meats.

The Cabernet Sauvignon is a luscious wine, offering ripe plum and red berry characters, with a hint of spearmint chocolate across a textured palate. 18 months in new and older French oak has ensured the development of fine but firm tannins. This wine will continue to improve over the next 5-8 years.
